A C-compatible interface for WHIZARD as a whole (to be linked as a library) would allow access from other frameworks. Can probably be implemented by passing a command string with a single subroutine.

As this is already done and needs only to be connected via the configure, I rank it up a bit (just to get it done)

What is the latest status of that!? I remember that lately it was something like "it is done, and has only to be attached to the main core"

The branch has been merged into the trunk. Is there anything to do here? In principle, we could change the Makefile in the share/interface folder into a proper folder incl. a Makefile.am. At the moment, this folder share/interface is also not included in the distribution tarball. Maybe it should? Are there still improvements/ameliorations/extensions? What is the status?

This exists in 2.1 and is also covered in #496 (resurrect for 2.2.0), but for 2.2.1 we may discuss possible extensions, examples and documentation.
