All redundant tests have been eliminated during the big pit stop in Siegen. All tests commented out up to now should be revived, cf. #563. The DEFAULT_CHECKS logic has also been resolved. Closing.

The test
particles.rundepends on the methods for particles that were implemented using HepMC routines. Either the test has to not use these routines, or simply the code erased. Comments?
