It might be disturbing for the user to struggle with the graphical analysis installation if everything else works.

This seems to work now for the distribution tar ball of the WHIZARD 2. I included in the install node that for the svn version to be compiled MetaPost? is mandatory. WHIZARD 2 behaves correctly if the user demands an analysis, but gamelan is disabled, the analysis process.tex is produced, but not processed. Closing.

Does not break anything, if MetaPost? is there. (Funnily enough, the graphical analysis seems to know about the absence of gamelan/mpost such that the qedtest is not failing. It's just that only the screen output and the event files are written). If MetaPost? is absent the gamelan subdir is ignored. I have to check whether this REALLY works with a new check out.
